There aren’t many things as annoying as sitting at home during an Australian summer soaked in sweat, especially if you have leather furniture. As comfortable as cotton clothing may be, it has poor moisture absorbent properties, and I go through underwear so fast, I can barely keep up with the laundry, and I oftentimes find myself with having nothing to wear, especially since I started going to the gym.
Naturally, I had to look for an alternative for cotton clothes, underwear shorts and shirts, so that I can last at least a day without having to change twice. Then I discovered the miracle that is bamboo. Bamboo fabric is something I didn’t know I needed until I tried it, and I haven’t turned back to cotton since. Now I wear bamboo made underwear, and bamboo mens shorts and t shirts at the gym. Slowly but surely, most of my clothing went from cotton to bamboo.
I originally started wearing bamboo mens shorts, underwear and shirts because they don’t make me sweat and smell like synthetic fabrics do. But there are many other benefits of wearing bamboo clothing, and the properties are retained after washing it many, many times. For instance, bamboo is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, which makes it the ideal fabric for people who have sensitive skin.
Moreover, people who suffer from eczema, psoriasis and skin allergies will have their life transformed when they experience the delight of wearing bamboo clothing. These people have a hard time finding clothes that don’t irritate or itch their skin, but bamboo is naturally hypno-allergenic, highly breathable, and very gentle on the skin. Moisture is the biggest culprit that causes eczema outbursts.
Simply put, bamboo clothes will provide you with comfort your body won’t recognise. If you appreciate comfort over brand and style, you’ll have an easier time shopping for bamboo clothing, as most mainstream designers haven’t woken up from their deep slumber yet, but that’s slowly changing. The naturally soft, light fabric that’s gentle on the skin will house your body and treat it with the care it deserves.
But besides bamboo being great for the body, it’s also great for the planet. Bamboo is a sustainable plant, and one of the fastest growing in the world. It can replenish itself within a year, and it can grow virtually anywhere on the planet. Moreover, it doesn’t require pesticides and fertilisers, which means it’s 100% organic grown. If you’re an advocate for a greener Earth, then using bamboo products will help you, and the environment at the same time!
